The best bar is on the own stadium, I can't remember now it's name because it was changed last year, but is not difficult to find, the only one in the stadium. 2) Who are Racing 's Rivals ? Is there any rivalry with Zaragoza? There is no rivalry with Zaragoza. Racing's principal rivals are Athletic Bilbao, and Sporting Gijón because of proximity, maybe Getafe because something that happened a few years ago, and Real Madrid and Barcelona because they are the most difficult rivals. 3) Will it be easy for me to buy tickets on the day of the match ? I'm sure you won't have problems. 4) Is it Likely to be Played on a Saturday or a Sunday ? Most probably it will be on Sunday, but until 10 days before the match it's no sure. 5) Which is the best part of the stadium for me to go in? It depends on how much you want to pay. In 'Tribuna' you won't be wet. 6) Is there anything about the club you would like to let fans of England know about in my report. All we get is Real Madrid and Barcelona over here (ZZZzzzz). I'd like to let people know that 'Racing existe'! I think the most interesting thing to know for England's fans is that Racing is an innovator. The first team in Spain that was broadcasted live on tv, the first team in Spain with sponsor on the shirt, the first team that contracted a foreing player... Thanks for this. #12• Thanks very much for the replies. That "Fuente de Cacho" anthem is absolutely brilliant!! Does anyone have a copy of the words? Which match was that video taken from? As I say, if anyone wants to meet me on match day for a few canas. Get in touch please. No puedo esparar ahora.... |
#14• Escrito originalmente por HalfManHalfBiscuit Thanks very much for the replies. That "Fuente de Cacho" anthem is absolutely brilliant!! Does anyone have a copy of the words? Which match was that video taken from? As I say, if anyone wants to meet me on match day for a few canas. Get in touch please. No puedo esparar ahora.... The match of the video was the semifinal of the King's cup between Racing and Getafe in "El Sardinero" disputed on 19th March of 2008, and the lirycs of the song are this: Ayer te vi que subías (alias La Fuente de Cacho) Ayer te vi que subías, por la alameda primera, luciendo la saya blanca, y el pañueluco de seda. The approximate translation is: Yesterday I saw you coming up (aka The Fountain of Cacho) Yesterday I saw you coming up for the mall first,´ wearing the white skirt, and silk handerkerchief. Tell me where you go brunette, tell me where you go cheerful tell me where you go brunette, at two in the morning. I go to the source of Cacho, to drink a glass of water, which I'm told is very good, drink in the morning. Tell me where you go brunette, tell me where you go cheerful tell me where you go brunette, at two in the morning. I go to the garden of Valencia, to tell the gardener, to give me a white rose because in my garden I have them. Tell me where you go brunette, tell me where you go cheerful tell me where you go brunette, at two in the morning. |

#17•• Maybe, if you contact with the club, you could get a press pass if you say you'll come to write on a web. www.realracingclub.es. |
#18• AWESOME |
#19• That last video of the song is from the 2007/2008 season, in José Zorilla (Real Valladolid's Stadium). In that match Racing won 0-1 and because of this, we stay in uefa position and near to champions league positions I think |

If Anyone Wants to meet me for a beer Before the match Then That would be great! Hey Danny! hard to believe you're a foreign editor after the match, but even if you aren't I can share a beer with you nonetheless! If you wanna contact with me, use a private message. Now onto your questions: 1) Santander is spiked with bars, inside and outside the city you got some really nice places to have a beer. I like the Taberna Celta or the Cormorán, which is near the arena. 2) Our longest going rival is Athletic Bilbao, due to its proximity (80 kms east of the capital). Sporting Gijón on the other hand is not much of an antagonist, their coach is from Cantabria and there's some warm feelings between the teams, and some discordant voices as well. Other infamous teams include Getafe FC (a recent story of rivalry due to some "treacherous" player). As for Zaragoza, I kinda like the team, but will feel relieved to have them beaten - this was the destination of the coach that had us qualify for EFA Cup back in 2008, another case of lack of loyalty of sorts. He also got a couple of players follow him, like Jorge López, an important asset in the midfield. 3) You will likely find place to accomodate yourself, as the arena doesn't easily get filled. I think tickets are conveniently sold on match's day. I have the season's pass though. 4) Most likely on Sunday, but I can't tell for certain just yet. Details are given with small anticipation. 5) I'm in the lower southern end, the cheapest. You would do better in eastern or western ends, the upper side is called "Tribuna" and the lower "Preferencia". 6) Well we are a modest team but have tasted Europe once and now we're armed with Markus! We're some traditional team of the middle of the table, though we've had had some good places in the League. We're always struggling to achieve more, but circumstances are not helping. Not any luck with trades I'm afraid. I kinda ignore everything about Premier League but we could compare to West Ham United (honors!) or Sunderland, I think. |
#22• Another great video of the Racing fans. I'm really getting to learn about the club and the fans on here which is great. I've made it my mission to learn the words and the song of 'Fuente de Cacho' so I can sing it with you lads on the day of the match. No problem after a few beers! Colin and others - thanks for the answers to my questions. Really useful for my article on Racing. European Football Weekends is read by over 20,000 people a month from around the world, so hopefully I can spread the word of Racing to some new fans. I can't access my 'private messages' so can those who have sent them to me contact me via www.europeanfootballweekends.co.uk my email address is on there. Thanks again for the welcome! Danny |

Danny I fear the worst a "guiri" singing "La Fuente de Cacho" Danny if you know something spanish, and you could get it, exist a documental realized by Canal History in 2006 about our Club, his history, and fans is called "Siempre Racing", collects, over 45 minutes divided into five chapters, history, the quarry, which means the Club for the Cantabrian, the 2005/06 season and simulates what may be one afternoon in Los Campos de Sport. |

#31• Hi, I went to the game and I loved everthing about not only Racing, but the city of Santander. The food, drink, beaches, mountains, and of course the football. I met a few fans beforehand and quite a few more in La Tasca after the match. Luckily, Racing gave me a press pass which was really good of the club. I´m still in Spain for another week. Upon my return home to England I´ll write my report and post the link on here. I took lots of photos of the fans, so you you might be in some of them. The report will appear on www.europeanfootballweekends.co.uk next Tuesday. Thanks a million for being so kind on here and for welcoming me to your city. I brought some Racing scarves and pennants which I´ll take back to my own club (Lewes FC) and stick up on the walls of our clubhouse (bar). Un abrazo Danny |
